Set your Instagram DM greeting:

"Hey! 👋 Thanks for the DM! I can help you book appointments, answer questions about our services, or share pricing. What can I do for you?"

Story Replies Automation

10

Enable Story Reply Automation

When people reply to your Instagram Stories:

  1. Go to SettingsInstagramStory Replies
  2. Toggle Auto-respond to story replies to ON
  3. Set your response template

"Thanks for reaching out! How can I help you today? I can answer questions, share pricing, or help you book an appointment."

Comment Management

11

Set Up Comment Auto-Responses

Respond to Instagram post comments automatically:

Tip

For pricing questions in comments, have the AI say "DMing you the details!" and send a private message. Keeps pricing discussions private.

Message Request Handling

12

Auto-Accept Message Requests

When non-followers message you, it goes to "Message Requests":

  1. Go to SettingsInstagramMessage Requests
  2. Toggle Auto-accept requests to ON
  3. AI automatically accepts and responds

Without this, the AI can't respond to non-followers.

Important

Auto-accepting requests means anyone can message you. Monitor for spam and block abusive accounts.

Best Practices

  • Match your brand voice: Instagram can be more casual than email
  • Use emojis: They fit the platform and add personality
  • Respond quickly: Instagram users expect instant replies
  • Include CTAs: "Book now" or "Check out our menu" links
  • Monitor manually: Check conversations daily for quality
  • Engage authentically: Don't make it obvious it's a bot

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a personal Instagram account?

No. You must have a Business or Creator account. Personal accounts don't support automation APIs.

Will people know it's an AI?

The AI sounds natural, but you can add a disclaimer like "This is our AI assistant. A human is available if needed."

Can I still respond manually?

Yes! You can jump into any conversation and take over. The AI will step back when you do.

Does this work for Instagram comments too?

Yes, if you enable comment automation. The AI can respond to comments or invite people to DM.

What about Instagram Stories?

The AI can respond to story replies if you enable that feature. It cannot post stories automatically.

Troubleshooting

Connection failed

Solution: Ensure you're an admin on both Instagram and Facebook Page. Verify Instagram is connected to your Facebook Page. Try disconnecting and reconnecting.

AI not responding to DMs

Solution: Check that auto-reply is enabled. Verify the integration shows "Connected." For message requests, ensure auto-accept is ON.

Messages delayed

Solution: Instagram API can have delays (up to 30 seconds). This is normal. If delays are longer, check Instagram's platform status.

Can't see old messages

Solution: Only messages after connection are synced. Historical messages before integration won't appear.
